Around the Capitol
Inaugural Activities
Last week I was in Washington, D.C. for the Presidential Inaugural Ceremony and other events around the nation’s capital.  To me the Inaugural Ceremony represents a peaceful transfer of Presidential power and marks a new day in our nation. I look forward to working with President Donald Trump and my colleagues in Congress to bring much-needed change to our government and to accomplish the goals of our country and our community.

Familiar Faces
Last Wednesday and Thursday we had over a hundred members of our community visit my Washington, DC office to pick up tickets for the Inaugural Ceremony. It was great seeing so many old friends and making new ones! If you didn’t make it out for Inauguration, we will have other chances to connect in DC.  If you’re planning a visit please visit my office to learn about how we can help you set up tours of the White House, Capitol, and more.

SCVi in DC
Over the weekend I met up with students from SCVi, iLEAD’s founding charter school in Santa Clarita, who were visiting Washington, D.C. partly for the Presidential Inauguration. We had the opportunity to visit the House floor to discuss the legislative process and also went to the steps of the Capitol for a group photo.

Tax Relief for Our Nation’s Heroes

This legislation would exempt student loan forgiveness from gross taxable income for families of U.S. veterans who lost their lives while on active duty, and for those with 100% service-connected disability.
