Internships offer an excellent opportunity for college students and recent graduates to gain experience in a fast paced and dynamic working environment. Our office has openings in our Washington, D.C. office and any one of our three District offices. While these positions are unpaid, interns come away with insight and knowledge that can’t be acquired in a classroom. Candidates who work well in a team, are strong writers, and are committed to public service are strongly encouraged to apply. Internships are offered year-round and can be flexible to accommodate your schedule and other commitments.
Interns in our Capitol office will be tasked with a variety of responsibilities to assist Congressman Knight and his staff. They will be asked to answer phones, provide tours to constituents, research legislation, attend hearings and briefings, and provide reports on various issues before the House. As a result, interns learn about the legislative process and the many other functions of a congressional office.
In the District office, interns may be asked to do a variety of things, including day-to-day office work such as answering phones, writing letters and assisting with media clips. In addition, interns may be assigned to assist in various constituent case work or work on District-based projects of importance.
