On Monday, October 1, 2018, Representative Steve Knight (R-CA) hosted the Honorable Elaine L. Chao, Secretary of the U.S. Department of Transportation in an event to recognize the $47 million INFRA grant to improve and relieve traffic congestion along the I-5/I-14 interchange.

Located at the Taylor Trailhead at Rivendale Park and Open Space, the event was highlighted with remarks from Santa Clarita Mayor Laurene Weste, Los Angeles County Supervisor Kathryn Barger, Representative Knight, and Secretary Elaine L. Chao. Also in attendance was former County Supervisor Mike Antonovich, Simi Valley Councilmember Mike Judge, Santa Clarita Mayor Pro Tem Marsha McLean, and Santa Clarita Councilmembers Bob Kellar and Bill Miranda.

"This grant is a huge deal for everyone who travels on the 5 or the 14,said Rep. Knight "With less traffic at this bottleneck, commutes get shorter, workers can be more productive, and families can spend more time doing the things they love rather than being stuck in automotive gridlock. This wouldn't have been possible without the combined effort from Mayor Weste, Supervisor Barger, other local elected officials, and the generous cooperation from Secretary Chao and her team at the U.S. Department of Transportation. I'd like to thank them all for their continued commitment to our shared constituents."

"This $47 million INFRA grant will help increase much-needed capacity to reduce the congestion on the 5,said Secretary Elaine L. Chao.
