A bill by Rep. Steve Knight (CA-25) passed out of the House Small Business Committee on Wednesday afternoon.

House Resolution 1390, the Small Business Joint Venturing Act, was introduced in the House of Representatives early last week. The goal is to help small businesses compete for federal contracts, but don’t have the resources to do so on their own. The bill would give small businesses a better chance to compete for federal contracts by allowing them to form joint ventures and work together while maintaining their small business status.

“Currently in the 25th District, we have around 450 small firms actively seeking federal government contracts and this bill will help them do so,” said Congressman Steve Knight.

H.R.1390 is part of a package of bills aimed at strengthening our industrial base by making small businesses more competitive in the bidding process for federal contracts. On Wednesday afternoon, Knight’s bill along with several others passed out of committee with unanimous, bipartisan support.

“I’m pleased that my colleagues on both sides of the aisle have moved quickly to make the federal contracting process fair for small businesses,” continued Knight.

H.R.1390 now awaits assignment to additional committees before it is sent to the House floor for votes.
