(SANTA CLARITA, CA) – Representative Steve Knight (CA-25) announced that his office will be accepting submissions for the 2016 Congressional Art Competition until 5pm on Friday, April 29th.

The Congressional Art Competition is an annual nation-wide arts competition for high schoolers sponsored by the Members of the U.S. House of Representatives. The competition is open to high school students that attend public or private schools, or are home schooled. The student must reside in California’s 25th Congressional District and be a U.S. citizen or permanent legal resident. The winner of this year’s Competition will receive complimentary airfare to Washington, D.C. for an unveiling ceremony this summer, where the artwork will be featured for an entire year.

“I am thrilled for this opportunity to recognize and encourage the artistic talent in our community and across the nation,” said Representative Knight.

Students wishing to participate in this year’s competition must submit their completed work to one of the four designated drop-off locations (listed below). Submissions must have a Student Release Form attached, which can be found on Rep. Knight’s website along with complete rules and guidelines for the Competition.

The winner of this year’s Art Competition will be announced on May 6th at a reception held by KHTS Hometown Station at Fastframe in Valencia. For more information, please contact Nicole Vartanian in Knight’s Santa Clarita Office at (661) 255-5630.
