(SANTA CLARITA, CA-) Representative Steve Knight (CA-25) hosted the 2nd Annual Congressional Small Business Conference and Expo on Wednesday, where around one hundred small business owners and employees gathered to learn about how to expand their operations.

The event began with remarks by Knight, who sits on the House Committee on Small Business, about the importance of small businesses in both the local and national economies and current initiatives at the federal level to help them.

“Small business owners like you are absolutely necessary for us to thrive as a nation,” said Representative Knight. “You provide our neighbors with jobs and our community with the products we need.”

Following Rep. Knight’s speech, the audience heard from a series of expert panels about a variety of pertinent topics. These included ‘Adding Value to your Business,’ which featured representatives from local organizations that support local entrepreneurs like the Small Business Development Center at College of the Canyons, and a panel on ‘Working with Defense Contractors,’ which was made up of representatives from larger local aerospace firms.

The event concluded with an Expo in which attendees could network with one another and speak with organizations and agencies that provide resources for growing firms. Knight said the event, which is in its second year, was a valuable opportunity for both attendees and for himself.

“I am very grateful to everyone who attended today’s event- from organizations that provided resources and information to the business owners who took time out of their busy schedules to learn and provide feedback about the problems that they face in growing their companies,” continued Knight. “I look forward to taking the input I gathered back to Washington, D.C. and working on real solutions for our small business community.”
