Long Overdue
Congratulations to Merwyn Anesetti, Airman 1st Class, on receiving your service awards. Mr. Anesetti served in the Air Force from 1956 to 1960, but never received his service medals. Earlier this year his wife contacted my office and asked if we could track down the awards he earned, and on Veterans Day I presented them to him in my office. Thank you for your service sir!

AV Memorial Wall
Last week I attended the Veterans Day ceremony at Marie Kerr Park in Palmdale, where the Mobile Vietnam Veterans Memorial Wall for the Antelope Valley was on display. Every time I see the Wall, I am moved by the number of names it bears—each engraving signifies a soldier who made the ultimate sacrifice for our nation during the Vietnam War.

Habitat for Humanity
Thank you to Habitat for Humanity of San Fernando and Santa Clarita Valleys for putting on such a moving Veterans Day service at your Santa Clarita Valley Enriched Neighborhood.

On Veterans Day I also had the honor of presenting pins and certificates to veterans at Pacifica Senior Living of Santa Clarita. Thank you to Silverado Hospice for coordinating the event and to everyone who participated.

Local Business Visit
On November 10th I toured Aerovironment’s facility in Simi Valley, where they design and build Unmanned Aircraft Systems. I learned a lot and they even let me launch an Unmanned Aircraft!

Hearts Apart
Last Thursday I drove to Edwards Air Force Base, where I had the honor of participating in Hearts Apart. This fun program is designed to offer support to the spouses and family members of deployed military personnel.

Knight Prep
I visit many schools throughout my Congressional District, and am always impressed coming across innovative ways to teach our children. Knight Prep Academy is one of those forward thinking schools teaching 7th graders a STEM curriculum, which will allow those students great opportunities even before entering high school.

Celebrating Entrepreneurs
On Tuesday I participated in a Small Business Committee Hearing on the benefits of entrepreneurship to the American economy. Last month I co-sponsored a bill that would recognize the third Tuesday in November as National Entrepreneurs' Day, which celebrates all those entrepreneurs who have long been vital to the economic growth of the United States by advancing innovation, improving productivity, and creating jobs. The Final Frontier
On November 16th the House passed the SPACE Act, of which I am a proud co-sponsor. This bill would provide the commercial space industry with long-term regulatory stability, and is a huge step in creating a strong national space policy.

A Visit from the City of Santa Clarita
Earlier this week I met with representatives from the City of Santa Clarita in my Washington, D.C. office, including City Councilmember Laurene Weste, Mayor Pro Tem Bob Kellar, City Manager Ken Striplin, and Intergovernmental Relations Manager Michael Murphy. We had a very productive meeting regarding the next steps forward on the CEMEX fight, my Saint Francis Dam Bill, and the Bouquet Canyon issue.

Refugee Letter
As the national debate ensues over whether the President’s refugee resettlement plan can move forward, I need to make one thing perfectly clear: accepting Syrian nationals is not in the best interest of the American people. Yesterday I sent a letter to Governor Brown requesting him to reconsider his plan to relocate Syrian nationals to California. Read the letter here.
