A Warm AV Welcome
On Thursday morning my staff attended the grand opening of CarMax in Palmdale. Over 150 new jobs are coming to the Antelope Valley with the addition of this great company. Thank you for your commitment to our community and for hiring some of our local veterans.

Aliso Canyon Meeting
I'm glad my office had the chance to provide comments at last week’s public meeting on Aliso Canyon hosted by California Public Utilities Commission and the Department of Conservation’s Division of Oil, Gas & Geothermal Resources. Thanks for everyone who came out!

Happy Birthday President Reagan
Today my staff had the honor attending President Ronald Reagan's 106th Birthday Celebration at the Ronald Reagan Presidential Library in Simi Valley. The event featured keynote remarks by Sam Donaldson, a Color Guard, 21-gun salute, and the placing of an official White House Wreath on President Reagan’s gravesite.

Unfreezing Defense Acquisition
Last Tuesday I joined House Armed Services Oversight and Investigations Subcommittee Chairwoman Vicky Hartzler (MO-4) and several other colleagues in sending a letter to President Trump urging prompt clarification of the federal hiring freeze as it pertains to Department of Defense (DOD) civilian personnel and support for complete staffing of DOD contracting personnel. While I do support efforts to make the federal government smaller and more accountable, we must maintain full staffing of DOD contracting offices, whose roles are vital to our national security and have a large impact on our local economy.

Threat Assessment
On Wednesday I participated in a House Armed Services Committee hearing about the national security threats and challenges that our country faces, featuring testimony from General David Petraeus and Acting Director of CIA John McLaughlin.

Hearing From The Community
Later this evening I will be hosting a live telephone town hall to discuss how best to repair and rebuild our nation's healthcare system as well as other important legislative issues. If you did not have a chance to sign up for this one, don’t worry; you’ll have many more opportunities to participate. To register for a future event please visit my website.

Looking forward to another productive tele-town hall!
