Porter Ranch Neighborhood Council Installation
On July 13th my staff attended the PRNC meeting at Porter Ranch Community School, where the newly elected Council was installed. Congratulations to all the new members, and sincere thanks to the outgoing members for your leadership and dedication to the community during and after the Aliso Canyon gas leak.
Congratulations to the new Porter Ranch Neighborhood Council members!

Are You Ready for Some Football?
It was great to be a part of the Todd Davis Football Camp last weekend. The Mayor and Supervisor attended and watched as our local Super Bowl champ helped the kids of our community.

Simi Senior Sweets
Over the weekend the Simi Valley Senior Center put on an ice cream social for the record books! I enjoyed the time to chat with folks about issues like Social Security & Medicare, and of course the ice cream.

FLIGHT R&D Act Passes House
Last Monday, the House unanimously passed the FAA Leadership In Groundbreaking High-Tech Research and Development Act, a bill I introduced earlier this year. This measurewould authorize funding for the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) to study and utilize improvements in aerospace technology with the goal of advancing aviation safety, security, and economic competitiveness.

Aviation research and development means more jobs and more opportunities for our small businesses - especially in the Antelope, Santa Clarita, and Simi Valleys. I am glad that my colleagues are joining me in strengthening America’s aviation programs. When the aerospace community grows, our local economy thrives.

Water Legislation Moves Forward
Last week we took another step toward passing solutions for Californians suffering from the drought. H.R. 5538, the Interior, Environment, and Related Agencies Appropriations Act for FY 2017, which includes provisions that would allow several key water storage projects in California to move forward, passed the House with my support. These projects, along with other initiatives to send water from the San Joaquin delta to Southern California, would go a long way in helping with our drought. Passing rational solutions to California’s historic drought is extremely important, and this is a golden opportunity to do exactly that. By supporting this measure, we are taking a huge step toward providing drought relief to Golden State residents.

Los Angeles Olympics 2024
I am a proud coauthor of House Concurrent Resolution 142, which expresses Congressional support for Los Angeles to host the 2024 Summer Olympics. Last week the Resolution passed both the House and the Senate with overwhelming bipartisan support and is now official! I am confident in LA 2024’s ability to deliver the Olympic Games to the benefit of the Greater Los Angeles region and the entire United States.
