Getting Energetic at Pacific Scientific
On Tuesday I visited Pacific Scientific in Valencia, where I learned a great deal about their energetic materials operation and even had the opportunity to deploy the Nighthawk- a lightweight, portable design that immobilizes vehicles and enables officers to get out of the danger zone quicker.

Civic Engagement at COC
It was great to meet with the students from College of the Canyons during their Civic Engagement meeting earlier this week. Thank you to Linda Beauregard-Vasquez for arranging the meeting.

Calling All Artists!
I’m excited to announce that I am now accepting artwork submissions for the Congressional Art Competition of 2016. High School students can submit an original work of art for a chance to be selected as the 25th Congressional District’s winner. The first place winner will be provided with complimentary airfare to Washington, D.C. to see his or her art displayed in the Capitol Building where it will be featured for an entire year. Artwork must be submitted by Friday, April 24th to one of my District Offices in Antelope Valley, Simi Valley, or to the KHTS Radio Station in Santa Clarita. A winner will be selected by a panel of judges consisting of members of the art community throughout the district, and announced by May 4th.

For more information on guidelines and rules, please visit my website or call Nicole in my Santa Clarita Valley Office at (661) 255-5630.

Soldier for Life
On March 22 I was humbled and honored to receive the U.S. Army Soldier for Life pin from Acting Secretary of the Army Patrick Murphy. I look forward to continuing to work with him to build a leaner, meaner Army that will be effective in the 21st Century and will, as the Acting Secretary has said, “remain loyal to our Soldiers for Life.”

Desert Christian at the Capitol
I had a great time chatting with students from Desert Christian Schools in Lancaster on the Capitol steps two weeks ago. Thanks to Mr. Wilson for putting this trip together and for meeting up with me!

A Fantastic Meeting with AIPAC
Last Tuesday I had an excellent meeting with members of AIPAC – The American Israel Public Affairs Committee who flew from the 25th District to Washington, D.C. Thanks to Rabbi Mark Blazer from Temple Beth Ami in Santa Clarita, Jan Zakowski, and everyone else for taking the time to talk about US-Israel relations and my trip to Israel last year!
It was a pleasure meeting with you!

Taking Care of Business
In a House Committee on Small Business Markup on March 23 I proudly supported H.R. 4783: The Commercializing on Small Business Innovation Act, and H.R. 207: The Small Business Development Centers Improvements Act. Both of these bipartisan bills would help America’s small businesses compete in the global science and technology marketplaces. Watch the full markup, including my remarks, here.

The Water Fight We Must Win
Congress must pass legislation that will deliver relief to our drought-stricken state, and I will keep fighting to make sure that happens. In the meantime, we must take advantage of the rains from El Nino to send water to homes and businesses in Southern California. That is why last week I signed a letter to President Obama urging him take advantage of the rain from El Nino by increasing the amount of water sent south of the Delta. Read more here
